Welsh hot tub business doubles in size

Colwyn Bay based company UK Leisure Living is doubling its size with a new hot tub showroom that will be one of the biggest in the UK.

The rapid growth of the company has largely been down to an increase in the popularity of solar powered hot tubs in the outdoor leisure market.

UK Leisure Living is partnered with the Carbon Zero Group which includes a renewable energy arm that sells and installs solar panels.

The showroom will be situated at The Old Creamery in Mochdre, and is expected to launch later this month.

The site is more than 2,220sq ft in size, doubling their current premises at the same business park.

The company took on an additional four staff members in the last quarter, taking the total number of staff to 15.

Gareth Jones of UK Leisure said: “In our first year we sold just under 100 tubs, and this year we’re on our way to selling around 150.

“I think they’ve become more and more popular because they’ve become more affordable and they are becoming a must-have for holiday parks and cottages.

“One of the reasons we’ve moved to bigger premises is because we have been chosen by the world’s largest hot tub manufacturer, to become one of their dealers.

Anna Openshaw, the manager of the Colwyn Business Improvement District (BID) said: “This excellent news is great for the local economy. The Carbon Zero Group is a go-ahead operation and the hot tubs business is going great guns.

“It’s exactly the kind of growth that will help re-energise the Bay of Colwyn.”
