Homefans, a company which organises package trips for football fans, has raised £111,590 in 30 days on crowdfunding site Crowdcube.
Co-founders Luke Verbeek and Daniel Velásquez set up the company in response to some of the frustrations they came across while travelling to see football matches.
Daniel said: “Nowadays, football fans, especially millennials, are seeking something beyond a ticket and a hotel night. They aim to collect experiences. However, the market only offers them a basic product.”
“If they’re looking for an authentic experience, the only available option in the market is corporate hospitality at a high price and not necessarily their fit.”
Homefans, which is based in Wilmslow, organises group trips to high profile games in a variety of destinations, and includes social experiences for likeminded football fans to connect.
Luke said: “We’re not a standard football package provider, we put a lot of effort on creating unique experiences and bring like-minded fans together to experience football the local way.”
Homefans has already taken more than 250 travellers from six different countries on football trips over the last ten months, but wanted to launch an equity crowdfunding campaign to boost growth and expand.
Daniel said: “We have a handful of new experiences in place like a trip to Argentina or long football weekends on the road across different destinations.
“The crowdfunding campaign will help us launch them, scale up and especially, involve the community to become a part of this journey. After 30 days on the platform, the company successfully reached its initial target and managed to overfund, hitting the 111% mark.
Luke said: "We were overwhelmed by the positive response of the crowd, with 166 investors on board believing in our concept, and in the ambitious growth plans”.
The team now plan to increase their marketing budget, launch new products, hire new members of staff and offer trips to a wider variety of locations.
