Leeds-based businessman David Robinson has teamed up with Iyad Al-Mashharawi, a GP from Hartlepool, to build the North's largest Clip 'n Climb centre.
With an investment of almost £1m and the creation of more than 20 jobs, Clip 'n Climb Leeds sees the meeting of minds between an experienced leisure venue operator and a family man who wanted to create his own Clip 'n Climb after seeing how much fun his kids had doing it.
A year in the making, Clip ’n Climb Leeds opens on 26th May and boasts 32 individual climbs, making it the biggest in the North.
David Robinson is no stranger to the New Zealand-born Clip 'n Climb model, having successfully run the award-winning Clip 'n Climb Ilkley for 2 years before moving on to other projects.
David said: “Clip 'n Climb is a fantastic business concept. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop choosing the climbs and experimenting with what works best for our audience.”
Rather than it working as a franchise, Clip 'n Climb provide marketing advice and support, as well as selling the venues the all-important climbs, but the total creation, funding and running of the venue is down to the owners.
David explained: “I knew Leeds was the perfect city for the North's biggest Clip 'n Climb, we just had to wait for the right venue.
“When a place on the Tristram Centre came up, with the direct motorway network and city links, it was ideal."
Iyad adds “I was introduced to David through an Entre-Prises meeting and, upon hearing his expertise and plans for Leeds I had to get involved.
“I have two children myself, both of whom are huge fans of Clip 'n Climb. I'm confident I'm investing in a business that I have direct experience in as a customer yet know I am bringing business acumen and strategic thinking to the table as well.”
Treats for the vertically adventurous include the hair-raising 9-metre Vertical Drop Slide, Stairway to Heaven and Astro-Ball amongst many others.
The third largest in England, Clip ‘n Climb Leeds caters for people of all abilities from 4 years up, and there is something for everyone to challenge themselves with.
As well as the awesome collection of climbs, visitors can enjoy a meal or light refreshments at Woodpeckers, the fully licensed bistro which boasts 40 covers, plus a private Party area of 20 covers.
Woodpeckers serves homemade pizza, pasta and a range of delicious cakes and cookies alongside a variety of cold and hot drinks, including Barista coffee.
Clip ‘n Climb Leeds also offers assisted climbs for those with disabilities, party bookings, adult keep-fit classes and corporate bookings.
