(L-R) Christopher Sutton and Dave King of the newly formed Bilateral Design.
Two North East leisure industry interior design experts have joined forces in a collaboration.
Dave King, who runs Newcastle-based leisure design firm Bar Hound, has teamed up with Christopher Sutton, owner of Collaborative Design to create a new design agency.
Both men will continue to operate their already successful solo design agencies but will now join forces under the name Bilateral Design, working on projects for an exclusive client base.
Christopher Sutton said: “The USP of Bilateral Design will be that both Dave and myself will work hand in hand on projects, giving select customers double the creative input.”
Before launching Bar Hound, which also operates the City Tavern in Newcastle city centre, Mr King was co-owner of leisure operator, Fluid Group.
The company created and operated leading bars in the city centre including Barluga and Perdu, as well as designing bars, restaurants and hotels for leading leisure operators across the UK under the banner of Fluid Design which was listed in the top ten interior agencies in the UK.
After selling Fluid Group in 2013, he launched Bar Hound and has recently worked with Christopher Sutton on several jobs under the Bar Hound Design banner.
Mr Sutton, owner of Newcastle-based Collaborative Design, boasts more than 24 years’ experience in the industry and specialises in leisure concept design, technical services and local authority liaison.
Dave King said: “Both myself and Chris have good, strong reputations in the commercial interior design world, and we felt the time was right to officially bring our talents together for special projects.
“We have worked on a few projects together recently and they’ve been a huge success, and we decided that there was a definite market for a collaboration of this kind.”
They will be joined by interior designer, James Seabridge-Cooper, who currently works alongside Mr King at Bar Hound.
“Our plan is to bring together the best of both of our skills and talents, and James will also continue to play a big part in our operations,” King added.
