Walk off that Christmas weight
Following the season of merriments and over-indulgence, lose weight is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions, and the good news is, walking is an effective and simple way to do so. Your dog needs walking everyday anyway, so walking your dog could easily become a key component of your weight loss routine. Morning or noon, rain or shine, walking is great for you and your dog, both mentally and physically. Walking together with your dog can make even the dreariest of days feel much brighter and on top of that, a brisk 30-minute stroll between each day can burn around 1000-3000 calories a week and helps to improve your metabolism. But always be sure to be mindful of your dog and only walk them for the correct amount of time taking into consideration their general health, weight and breed. Always remember to increase their exercise slowly and always check with your vet if you have any health concerns with your pet.

For many people, their New Year’s resolution is to be more adventurous, so why not get your pup in on the action? Exploring places with your furry friend will make your travels fun in a new way for the both of you. You could take a hike together, whether it be up Mount Snowdon, across the white cliffs of Dover, or through the Yorkshire Dales to enjoy the beautiful views. Travelling with your canine companion will bring a different sort of appreciation for travel and they will be sure to love all of the new sights, smells and time spent with their human. Make sure to check in with your vet to ensure your dog is fit and healthy, before embarking on your next travel adventure.

Plus, your dog’s enjoyment will motivate you to keep going. Visiting an agility class will really benefit you both and will help your dog keep their fitness levels up.
