Robert James-Collier, better known as butler Thomas Barrow in ITV’s Downton Abbey and the forthcoming film, has been announced as guest speaker at a new Emotional Intelligence conference, set to help delegates navigate relationships and communicate more effectively to maximise personal and team performance.
EQ Connects is a new international event, being held at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on 15 October 2019. It will bring together UK and international senior business managers, leaders and coaches to learn the latest Emotional Intelligence theories and techniques which improve understanding and provide a huge boost to individual and organisational success.
Emotional Intelligence, or “EQ” (Emotional Quotient), is the ability to understand our own and other people’s emotions effectively - and then to think and act with intent and purpose. Robert, who has also recently starred in the latest series of Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge, will discuss how great acting uses EQ to interpret a character's feelings, and portray how they interact with others both on stage and on screen.
Robert joins a quality cast of EQ experts, coaches and trainers. The conference will be chaired by the BBC’s Charlie Charlton and speakers include world-renowned thought leaders including Josh Freedman, CEO of Six Seconds; Gary Hosey CEO, Ei. Company; and Martyn Newman, CEO of RocheMartin. A packed programme will feature fun, experiential sessions to learn and apply the latest EQ skills.
“Emotions drive people and people drive performance,’ says Katharine Roff, European lead for Six Seconds, a global not for profit Emotional Intelligence business.
“The world in which we live is becoming increasingly complex. Political uncertainty and fast-paced technology can lead to an emotionally disconnected society, with rising stress levels undermining performance and productivity. In turbulent times, organisations with a resilient, adaptable and emotionally intelligent workforce show a distinct competitive advantage.
"Our programme includes case studies from large employers such as Sage, BAE Systems and Hitachi Rail UK to demonstrate how effective use of EQ can put management and staff at the top of their game.”
