Azoomee, the safe, fun and creative app for primary school-aged children, launched a crowdfunding campaign last month in a bid to grow the business.
With an initial target of £450,000, the Crowdcube campaign closed yesterday after overfunding by 77% and raising a total of £800,000.
The investment will be used to license and commission new content, acquire new users and support international expansion.
Douglas Lloyd, co-founder at Azoomee, said: “To receive this level of response to our crowdfunding campaign is amazing.
“Speaking very personally, for Estelle (his wife) and me, it’s wonderful to see so many people believe in us, our fantastic team and the app.
“With this investment we look forward to launching Azoomee internationally and helping more parents around the world keep their children safe online.”
Azoomee is based in Shoreditch with a full-time team of 17, including senior hires from HSBC, News International, Deezer and Hopster.
