The ‘smart food’ search engine for people with multiple or complex dietary preferences has appointed Andy Clarke as chairman.
Founded in 2014, Spoon Guru is a London-based technology start-up which has developed a unique search engine to cater for individuals with multiple or complex search requirements, such as those with specific food needs.
Research shows 64% of the world’s population now actively exclude foodstuffs from their diet and retailers are under pressure to meet the growing consumer demand for a shopping experience tailored to their food requirements.
Spoon Guru enables food businesses to refine their product offering based on individual consumer profiles, improving the shopping experience by increasing the choice of foods available whilst minimising the effort to find them.
The company’s technology does this by combining AI, machine learning and category expertise, enabling large and complex data sets to be easily searched and accurately filtered to deliver relevant choices.
Now, having grown rapidly since its launch and having landed deals with the likes of Tesco, the company is preparing for its next stage of growth after appointing former Asda CEO Andy Clarke as chairman.
Clarke brings over 25 years experience of driving performance improvement in multi brand international businesses and his sector experience includes food, fashion and general merchandise in both property intensive, multi-channel and online retailers.
His role will see him focus on building relationships for Spoon Guru internationally with suppliers and retailers in the grocery business.
