L-R: Rahul Modasia, business growth enabler at NatWest and Joao Rocha, owner of Storm Flowers
Corporate florist Storm Flowers London has received funding from NatWest to take its first permanent office space in London.
The £25,000 funding package has enabled the florist to move its business operations from the home of its owner, to a new office space in St. Anne’s Church Tower, Soho, providing the perfect base to serve clients across the city and West End.
The funding will also allow the business to employ up to 20 temporary staff for the Christmas period. Christmas accounts for 30-40% of business and recruitment is already underway for seasonal staff to start in mid-November.
Storm Flowers was founded in 2003 and after working at the florist for three years, current owner Joao Rocha acquired the business in 2014 when the previous owner was looking to sell.
He has since grown the business significantly, expanding its luxury London client base to include the majority of the West End and city property companies.
Alongside his commercial director, Lucy Haine, Joao hopes to continue to expand the business and employ additional permanent staff next year.
He said: “Christmas is an exciting but incredibly busy time of year for us and we already have 100 orders for Christmas trees. Thanks to the funding from NatWest, we can begin recruiting the extra staff who will be invaluable in assisting us with delivering and installing Christmas trees and themed flower arrangements in offices across London.
“The move from our home office to our first permanent premises will also allow us to grow the business over the coming years. We are increasingly being recognised as the chosen supplier for businesses in the city and the West End and we hope to continue to boost our growing reputation.”
Rahul Modasia, business growth enabler at NatWest, said: “I have worked with Joao for five years, providing Storm Flowers with funding on three separate occasions to initially purchase the business and support business growth. Since Joao acquired the business, I have seen it go from strength to strength and I look forward to continuing to support him and his team with further expansion in the future.”
