Conor Pierce appointed Corporate Vice President, Samsung UK & Ireland
Samsung Electronics has announced the appointment of Conor Pierce as corporate vice president, Samsung UK & Ireland. Conor joined the business back in 2015 as vice president of Mobile & IT, having been the UK and Ireland vice president at Nokia immediately prior to that. During his tenure, he helped propel Samsung’s mobile division to new heights despite increasing headwinds in the UK mobile market.
Alberto Martin appointed as CEO of London Luton Airport
Alberto Martin, the airport’s current planning and investment director has been appointed CEO of London Luton Airport (LLA) with immediate effect. Alberto is a highly experienced and well-regarded airport leader, who has successfully delivered LLA’s recently completed £160 million terminal transformation project and overseen the preparation and negotiation for Luton Borough Council’s £225m Direct Air-Rail Transit, which will link the airport terminal with Luton Airport Parkway by 2021.
International construction consultancy MPG has appointed Ryan Dando as commercial manager.
Mr Dando has more than 17 years’ experience in the construction industry, including over a decade working on various forms of the NEC contract. He has worked across sectors including retail, social housing, stadia and residential as well as commercial offices, aviation, rail and design.
Senior promotions cap record year for Frontline Recruitment
Careers specialist Frontline Recruitment has made two senior promotions on the back of a record year for the company, which has offices in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Mansfield, Hull and Weymouth. From 1 January 2019, Lauren Allen and Karen Barker will be taking up new positions as regional business directors.
SoftwareONE board names Dieter Schlosser as CEO
SoftwareONE has announced that its board of directors has appointed Dieter Schlosser as chief executive officer. Schlosser previously held the position of Global COO & Transformation Leader of SoftwareONE.
Acora adds more great people to its team
Acora, a UK-based IT Services company, is pleased to announce it has added two new team members in the past month to meet increasing demand from its growing client base.

J S Wright appoints new senior electrical estimator
Leading mechanical and electrical building services provider J S Wright has strengthened its rapidly expanding electrical business with the appointment of a new senior electrical estimator. Andrew Jay will work with the company’s national design and estimating director Andrew Smith in costing the electrical element of M&E work projects across the hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.
loveholidays appoints Richard Prosser as chairman
Private equity investors, Livingbridge has announced the appointment of Richard Prosser as chairman of its portfolio company, loveholidays. Richard has in-depth knowledge of the holiday travel industry with nearly 40 years of experience in the sector. He served on the group management board at TUI Travel plc as managing director from 2007 – 2010. Prior to this he was a managing director at First Choice Holidays for 11 years from 1996. Richard has also held senior positions at both Cosmosair plc and Globus Travel services.
Metro Bank strengthens lending team with senior hire
Metro Bank has announced the appointment of Andy Piggott as director of Lending Products. Responsible for overseeing the bank’s mortgages and unsecured lending products, including loans and credit cards, Andy has over 12 years of retail banking experience. Joining from TSB, Andy spent two years as Head of Personal Current Accounts, managing the bank’s 4.5 million current account customers, before being appointed as Head of Cards.
AI expert Professor Chris Reed joins ContactEngine’s Advisory Board
ContactEngine, the next generation Customer Engagement Hub technology, welcome AI and argument technology expert Professor Chris Reed to their Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board. Chris is professor of computer science and philosophy at the University of Dundee, Scotland, where he heads ARG-tech, the university’s Centre for Argument Technology.
Amanda Fox appointed head of marketing at Magnuson Worldwide
Amanda Fox has been appointed as head of marketing for Magnuson Worldwide. Fox is an American ex-pat who has enjoyed over a decade of working directly for and as a supplier to the Hospitality, eGaming and Casino Gaming industries across three countries before entering the travel sector 18 months ago.
CPP expands London office with Associate appointment

CIPHR appoints Andrew Carwadine as new CEO
CIPHR, the leading provider of HCM software solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK, is pleased to announce that Andrew Carwardine will be joining its board as CEO in January 2019. Chris Berry, CIPHR’s founder and CEO, will step back from his day-to-day responsibilities. He will continue to be deeply involved at board level, becoming deputy chair, with specific responsibility for non-UK expansion. Chris has led CIPHR for over 20 years, taking the decision in 2011 to make the company the first purely SaaS provider of HCM services, and thus enabling its recent remarkable growth. He will be succeeded by Andrew Carwardine, until recently managing director of Dynama Solutions.
Maven makes senior appointment to investment team
Maven Capital Partners has further expanded its investment team with the appointment of Gareth Price. Joining as an investment director, Gareth is responsible for sourcing VCT opportunities, investments for Maven’s MBO fund, and its private equity co-investor partner network in the South West, as well as managing portfolio investments in the region. Gareth brings close to 30 years’ investment and corporate finance experience, having spent his career advising both privately-owned SMEs and companies listed on AIM and the London Stock Exchange Main Market across a range of transactions including acquisitions and disposals, IPOs and debt and equity fundraisings.
Four leading business figures join Hampshire Chamber board
Hampshire Chamber of Commerce has made four new appointments to its board, securing added experience in finance, communications, marketing and education.
Corporate finance expert Joe Jeffers is the chief financial officer of Whiteley-based Peach Technologies. Marketing strategist, keynote speaker and corporate trainer David Harris is managing director and co-owner of Droxford company One2create. Ed Gould is partner and creative director of creative communications agency Carswell Gould. David Wales is head of faculty professions and employer responsive at Sparsholt College.

Legal & General deepens its capabilities across construction, planning and asset management
Legal & General announced that it has expanded its Build To Rent (BTR) team to support the continued growth of its platform, using long term capital to provide large scale sustainable rental schemes which will have a positive long term socioeconomic impact.
Legal & General has hired senior asset manager, Nisha Kerai, from Grainger plc. A chartered construction manager, Alex Sangway, has been hired from Berkeley St. Edward where he managed the construction and project management of multiple high-profile schemes including the 800 unit West End Gate development in Marylebone and 275 unit Abell & Cleland scheme in the heart of Westminster. A qualified Chartered Surveyor, Andrew Esam also joins the team as development manager, from Upside London where he was Associate Director.
BAM recruits director and brings framework team up to full strength
Karen Davenport has recently been appointed framework director by BAM Construct UK. Karen joins BAM from similar frameworks and public-private partnership roles in Graham Building and Galliford Try. Cordone has worked at SIA since 2000 with increasing responsibilities up to his appointment as Deputy CEO and Senior Vice President Global Business Solutions in 2016.
Xero’s Gary Turner joins Enterprise Nation board
Enterprise Nation today announced that Gary Turner, co-founder and managing director at Xero is joining its board as an adviser. The pioneer of cloud accounting software for small businesses will join in December to help the network develop its growth strategy as the leading small business support provider in the UK.
Turner has grown Xero’s cloud accounting business in the UK from a three-person start-up with annual revenues of £50k to to more than £40M in the year to March 2018, and now employs more than 300 people.
Neil Coyle MP Announced as new Chair of Wines and Spirits APPG
Neil Coyle, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, has been announced as the new Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Wines and Spirits.
Neil replaces Tim Loughton MP, who stepped down last month having led the group since 2014, having overseen growth in membership of the APPG to its largest number of members since it began.
