Plans to extend Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK's dispatch yard have been approved, creating 90 new jobs.
South Derbyshire District Council has approved proposals to extend Toyota’s Burnaston site, which will see the plant house an extra 3,500 vehicles.
The cars, which are manufactured in Derby, will be based at the site until they are exported to dealerships throughout Europe.
A council planning officer in their report to the council said: “One of the most important considerations in regards to the proposals is the economic benefits that arise from the development.
"Toyota are a successful company and have been producing cars at the Burnaston site for almost 25 years and are one of the largest employers in the area.
"The proposal would allow the significant expansion of this local business adjacent to their existing site and would assist in economic regeneration.
"In conclusion, the development is considered to be acceptable and would lead to a substantial investment, creating a significant number of employment opportunities."
