Jez Rose, founder of Bees for Business
Jez Rose, Lincolnshire beekeeper and founder of Bees for Business has come up with a unique new solution to help businesses offset their carbon emissions and help to safeguard the environment.
Beehive Twinning gives businesses the opportunity to twin workspaces with working honeybee hives located across the UK.
Commenting on the new concept, Jez Rose said: "Our goal is to become as sustainable as possible and to help other businesses achieve that too. We hope that businesses who want to be environmentally friendly and engage with corporate social responsibility activities will want to twin with a beehive. In doing so, they will help to halt the catastrophic decline of the UK's honeybee population. Bees are responsible for pollinating one third of the food we eat but the population has been declining drastically for the past 10 years and over time they have been producing less honey."
Beehive Twinning has been inspired by WaterAid's Toilet Twinning project, which Jez and the Bees for Business team loved so much they twinned their own toilets at the Bees for Business farm. They decided to try and make the concept work for beehives too.
Jez continued: "We've made available some of our working honeybee hives at various locations across the country, so that they can be twinned with business reception areas, meeting rooms and even school classrooms, much like you'd twin a town - or even a toilet! Businesses can even twin their building or their entire brand with a beehive."
