Next week’s BQ Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Awards will see Freeserve founder and Yorkshire Asian Business Association chair Ajaz Ahmed take to the stage.
Ajaz spawned the idea of Freeserve as a PC World customer, and after winning the backing of Dixons he went on to turn it into the UK’s largest internet service provider in just three months.
He says he’s done the usual since leaving; sat on a few boards, made a few investments, but he admits to making mistakes and learning many valuable lessons, meeting some amazing people in the process, and he’s now spending his energy working to disrupt and innovate the legal sector.
Alongside Ajaz, Atom Bank founder and CEO Mark Mullen will be talking at the event about his experiences as an entrepreneur endeavoring to found a bank with no branches.
And the twelve finalists for this year’s national award will also take to the stage, to share some of their journey with the audience.
BQ’s Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year awards take place on Wednesday 22nd February, at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead. Some tickets for the event are still available.
