Forward Ladies, the voice for women in business since 1999, is seeking nominations for its annual prestigious Forward Ladies National Awards which recognise outstanding female business leaders across the UK.
This year, the award categories have broadened to include Corporate Leader, STEM Leader and STEM Rising Star. Women can either self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague or business associate.
Last year’s winner of the overall title of Business Woman of the Year was presented to Jan Flawn CBE, founder and chair of PJ Care Ltd. - a leading provider of specialist neurological care and neuro rehabilitation for people with progressive or acquired neurological conditions.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 9th June ahead of the regional awards ceremonies, hosted by BBC journalist and presenter Rebecca Barr. Winners from each regional heat, which will be held in Birmingham, London, Newcastle, and Manchester, will go forward to a national awards ceremony on Friday 1st December.
Jan said: “I was delighted and honoured to win the Forward Ladies Business Woman of the Year Award in 2016. This has enabled me to further enhance my business profile and continue to mentor female entrepreneurs and promote women in business.
“As a keen advocate of women ladies and a mentor to young people and women, I am able to use my Forward Ladies accolade to promote the awards to women within my business community to put themselves forward for this prestigious award. Wining this award further proves that determination and a desire to achieve ones goals are the most important factors for success.”
Griselda Togobo, managing director of Forward Ladies, said: “It was always my intention through the awards to create a global platform for exceptionally talented women in business; to showcase their achievements, their true potential and the positive impact they make on our economy. The awards proudly celebrates this and gives each and every one of them the genuine recognition they so truly deserve.
“Our mission has always been to encourage, support, develop and develop these aspiring business leaders in their careers, and we are very keen to continue our commitment as they realise their business ambitions and individual aspirations.”
HSBC is once again confirmed as the headline sponsor of the awards and will be part of the judging panel. Debra White, HSBC Customer Experience Director for Business Banking, UK, added:
“This is the fourth year that HSBC has worked with Forward Ladies as part of our ongoing commitment supporting women in businesses across the UK. We’re looking forward to reviewing this year’s entries and recognising the outstanding women entrepreneurs that are a critical part of the economy.”
