Consider your business an innovator? These funding competitions could help you secure the funding you need to grow…

Innovate UK, the government’s innovation agency, has a series of funding competitions aimed at unlocking growth in a range of sectors.

The organisation currently has a range of competitions which are open for projects led by UK-based companies.

If you want to develop an innovative product, process or service, you may be able to apply for funding of between £25,000 and £10m.

Current initiatives include:

 

Medicine manufacturing fund

Innovate UK is set to invest up to £15m in innovation projects in medicines manufacturing to be funded through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.

Eligilility:

To lead a project you must:

  • Be a UK-based business
  • Carry out your project in the UK
  • Be able to start your project by 1 February 2018
  • Work alone or in collaboration with other organisations

Digital health technology catalyst

UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £8m to speed up development of new digital technology healthcare solutions.

Eligibility:

To lead a project you must:

  • Be a UK-based small or medium-sized business (SME)
  • Carry out your project in the UK
  • Be able to start your project by 1 February 2018
  • Work alone or in collaboration with other organisations

Faraday Challenge: Innovation

UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £10m to work on innovation projects to design, develop and manufacture batteries for the electrification of vehicles.

Eligibility:

To lead a project you must:

  • Be a UK-based business of any size or a research and technology organisation (RTO)
  • Involve at least one other partner for business-led projects
  • Involve at least two other partners if the lead is an RTO

Connected and autonomous vehicles

UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £23m to research and develop new connected and autonomous vehicle technologies.

Eligibility:

To lead a project in this research and development competition you must:

  • Be a UK-based business of any size
  • Involve at least one other organisation
  • Ensure research and development is conducted in the UK

SBRI funding competition

Organisations can apply for a share of up to £500,000 to develop solutions that provide information on improving business productivity.

Eligibility:

To lead a project, you must:

  • Be an organisation of any size
  • Work alone or in collaboration with others (businesses, research base and third sector)

Commercialisation of quantum technologies

Businesses can apply for a share of £9m to work with research organisations or other businesses on commercialising quantum technologies.

Eligibility:

To lead a project you must:

  • Be a UK-based business of any size or a research and technology organisation
  • Carry out your project work in the UK
  • Work in collaboration with other organisations

UK-Guangdong urban innovation challenge

UK businesses can apply for a share of £3m to work with Chinese partners on innovative urban solutions in Guangdong province.

Eligibility:

The aim of this competition is to encourage innovative partnerships between the UK and Guangdong province.

To lead a project you must:

  • Be a UK-based business of any size
  • Be a Chinese business that has been registered in Guangdong province for over one year

Newton UK-China agritech challenge

UK organisations can apply for a share of up to £8m to work with Chinese partners on innovative agricultural solutions in China.

Eligibility:

To lead a project you must address challenges related to agricultural technologies in one or more of the following sectors:

  • Precision agriculture, agriculture digitisation and decision management tools
  • Improving the efficiency of sustainable agricultural production
  • Agricultural products processing
