The KD Web team’s office is daytime home to Lili, a French bulldog who takes her job of boosting team morale very seriously…
What does your company do?
We are a digital agency based in London, specialising in web design and development, graphic design, SEO, PPC and content marketing.
And introduce us to your workplace pet… What’s their name, and what kind of pet are they?
Lili is a beautiful French Bulldog who belongs to our MD, Don. She loves nothing more than roaming the studio looking for food, big cuddles and playing fetch with our other, part-time office dog, Diesel.
How did they become your workplace pet?
Lili has been a member of the team for four years now – our MD knew staff would love having a furry friend in the office to boost morale.
What’s it like having an animal around the place?
We absolutely adore having Lili as a permanent member of the team! She brings constant joy and happiness to the working day, bringing a smile to everyone’s faces.
What made you decide to bring pets into your workplace?
· Dogs in the workplace boosts employee morale.
· It makes working here more accessible to employees with a pet, who may not be able to cover care during working hours, or go home to check on them during lunch.
· It makes us stand out from the crowd!
Does it have an effect on stress, and on how the whole team works together?
Studies have shown that having a dog in the workplace reduces employee stress, which is certainly the case. We also work together as a team by taking Lili for walks and even celebrating her birthday with tea and cake. It’s nice to have something cute and cuddly to bond over. Who doesn’t like a French bulldog?
Any unexpected benefits? Or, indeed, pitfalls?
Clients (and potential clients) are also fond of Lili, which is a bonus when they come in for meetings and are greeted by her loving energy. Luckily, none of our staff are allergic to dogs so we’ve seen no pitfalls yet.
Who’s responsible for walking, feeding, cleaning… any of the ‘less popular’ jobs?
We volunteer to take it in turns to take Lili to the park during our lunch breaks, an activity most of us enjoy!
Ever find it a distraction?
No, we try to keep her as chilled out and relaxed as possible when we’re working, saving her energy up for lunch time when she’s running havoc in the nearby park.
What would you tell other people who were reluctant to take in an office pet?
The benefits much outweigh the negatives. Give it a trial run – you won’t look back.
