Vialex expands service offering with new appointments
Legal services firm Vialex is broadening its offering to clients with an expansion of its advisory work in real estate and data protection.
The Edinburgh-based practice has hired experienced lawyer Katie Corrigan as head of real estate, a newly-created position.
Also joining Vialex is Catriona Melton, who has been appointed a senior legal adviser, specialising in data protection.
Shepherd Managing Partner appointed Chairman of RICS Scotland in its 150th anniversary year
Ian Fergusson, managing partner of Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, has been appointed Chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Scotland in its 150th anniversary year.
The role will see him lead the national board of RICS members in Scotland to drive forward pride in the profession while, as part of a UK fundraising target of £2.25m to mark the RICS’150th anniversary, spearhead Scottish input from the surveying profession to help raise funds for young people at risk of homelessness.
The Data Lab welcomes new chairperson
Scottish innovation centre, The Data Lab, is appointing a new chairperson to help deliver on its mission to help Scotland generate significant economic and social value from cutting-edge analytics and data science.
Mark Hunter, chief data officer and Director of Labs at Sainsbury’s Bank takes over the position of chair from Neil Logan, Chief Executive of Incremental Group, who is standing down after four years in the role. Mark has been on The Data Lab’s Governance Board since last year.
Darrell Matthews replaces Newell McGuiness as Managing Director at SELECT
Representative organisations’ specialist Darrell Matthews has been appointed by SELECT, the campaigning trade body for the electrotechnical sector in Scotland, as its new Managing Director, replacing Newell McGuiness.
Darrell, who has been working in tandem with Newell during a handover period, has a wide range of commercial experience, most recently with industry bodies such as EEF, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Directors.
Dräger Safety UK expands senior management team
Dräger Safety UK has appointed Kelly Murray as general manager of its North Sea operations base in Aberdeen, strengthening its team as it moves into a new phase of growth through continued diversification into the subsea, decommissioning and renewables markets.

Brewin Dolphin bolsters Edinburgh leadership team
Brewin Dolphin, one of the UK’s leading wealth managers, has strengthened its presence in Edinburgh with a clutch of senior appointments.
Marc Wilkinson has taken up a joint role as head of the firm’s office in the Scottish capital and regional director for Scotland and the North of England. Marc has been in the latter position since 2014 and with Brewin Dolphin since 1993.

Mark Skinner, the former managing director of John Bell Pipeline, has joined as strategic development consultant.
