Lakes Distillery drums up major interest

England’s newest and largest whisky distillery has landed two major contracts with one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains and a leading rail operator.

The deals will see The Lakes Distillery supply 43 Morrison’s stores across the North West and North Yorkshire and also first class customers on Virgin Trains’ west coast service.

The distillery’s artisan spirits are produced on-site at the distillery in The Lake District National Park using local resources.

Paul Currie, founder and managing director of The Lakes Distillery, said: “Having such well known respected brands eager to serve our products to their customers is a real compliment and testament to the thought and rigor which has gone into producing these quality spirits which use local resources.

“We try and source everything locally, whether it’s the ingredients that go into the spirits, the crafts we sell in our luxury gift shop or the food on the tables in the Bistro at The Distillery.”

Stefan Kaczmarczyk, fortified wine buyer at Morrison’s, added: “Morrison’s consistently seeks to work with local producers, such as The Lakes Distillery, which makes The ONE and The Lakes Gin perfect additions to our spirit range.

“Our involvement in the supply chain gives us close control over provenance, quality and freshness – we’re certainly impressed by the team at The Lakes Distillery.”

The Lakes Distillery opened its doors to the public in December 2014, shortly after it started production of The Lakes Single Malt, The Lakes Gin and The Lakes Vodka.
