Viral video sees Kate Fearnly demand soar

A Middlesbrough fashion designer has been inundated with enquiries from across the globe after a video of a rapping maid of honour went viral on YouTube.

The video captures the maid of honour at the wedding of Hayley and Paul O’Brien in Cheshire rapping her own very special version of rap song Ice Ice Baby, to which she wrote her own special lyrics for the happy couple.

The singer has now made headlines across the world after the video was viewed 700,000 times on YouTube and Kate Fearnly, who has designed dresses for celebrities such as Alexandra Burke, Diana Vickers and The Saturdays, has been inundated with queries about her dresses ever since.

Speaking to BQ, Fearnley said: “This just goes to show the power of social media. We’ve had more enquiries for the Buttercup in the last week than when they were in Brides magazine!

“We got an email from America on Friday asking if we sent them overseas – the reach has been amazing.”

Fearnley, 39, was established as an independent designer in 2002, and opened her flagship boutique in Middlesbrough in 2005.
