It is hoped that these meetings will help to create major new strategies to support the region’s thriving digital sector and help increase its presence on the global map.
Two focus groups, which will be phase two of the consultation process following a heavy response to an online survey last month, will take place on 1 March and 2 March.
The research projects are asking for the input of all interested parties, including digital employers, skilled employees, educators and leading representative groups.
Both Councils have tasked North East based business development specialists, Auxin Associates to help coordinate the consultation process.
Auxin’s David Anderson said: “It’s crucial that we hear from all interested parties in this process. We would urge everyone to take up the invite to get involved.
“The eagerness and willingness to help already proves there is a real desire for Newcastle and Gateshead to take its rightful place as a global destination for digital innovation and excellence.”
Those already supporting the project are Paul Lancaster, partnerships manager at Tech North, and Tristan Watson, co-founder and managing director of tech accelerator programme, Ignite.
