MACAW celebrates 20th anniversary with expansion

A North East engineering consultancy is marking its 20th anniversary by unveiling further expansion plans.

Newcastle’s MACAW Engineering, founded in 1996 by four former senior British Gas engineers, now employs 100 people and has seen a steady incline over the past 20 years.

The company has been forced to move or expand its premises three times to help accommodate its growing workforce and workload, and now it has revealed plans to increase employee numbers during the coming year.

Paul Casson, principal engineer at MACAW, said the company is looking to its 20th anniversary year with a lot of confidence in its future.

“The business was established 20 years ago and we have seen year on year growth ever since, often exceeding even our own expectations,” he said.

“Five years ago, we moved into our current office space as part of a ten-year plan of expansion – but already we have had to take additional office space and are currently looking for extra workshop capacity.”

MACAW, based on Quorum Business Park, is also looking to invest in additional workshop space to keep up with increasing demand.
