50 new jobs at BT centre

BT has announced plans to recruit around 50 new staff at its Harton Quay contact centre in South Shields.

New recruits will work in sales and customer service roles, with recruiters keen to attract applicants from across South Tyneside and the wider region.

Farooq Hakim, BT’s regional director for the North East, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking for a secure, well-paid and flexible job with long term career prospects and excellent training in one of the UK’s top companies.

As part of the recruitment process the firm will be holding two open days on Wednesday March 30, 6.20-8.00pm and on Saturday April 2 between 2.20pm and 4.00pm.

This latest recruitment will expand BT’s involvement in the regeneration of South Tyneside, which is centered on the BT South Tyneside strategic partnership between BT and South Tyneside Council.

Councillor Iain Malcolm, leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with BT to bring another 50 jobs to the Borough.

“I would urge local residents interested in exploring options further to come to the job fairs and find out more.”
