The hotel, which opened earlier this month, was full to capacity as Sunderland AFC played a home game at the Stadium of Light located only meters from the hotel.
Hotel management celebrated the news that all hospitality packages at the hotel sold out days in advance, and customers made the most of the new facilities before and after the 90 minute match.
“The feedback we have received since the Hilton Garden Inn opened earlier this month has been outstanding,” said Kim Kelso, general manager at Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland.
“While we were expecting to be busy to coincide with the football, it was even better than anticipated for Sunderland versus Chelsea and it was great to see the bar and restaurant full both before and after the game.
“We are now looking forward to welcoming a similar crowd for the Everton game, as well as for all home games in the forthcoming seasons.”
The Hilton Garden Inn,boasts 141-bedrooms, as well as a 24-hour business centre, fitness suite and the Pan-American inspired Karbon Grill Kitchen and Bar.
