Tasty campaign kicks off Euro 2016 for Tango Durham

A Durham burger restaurant is embracing the upcoming Euro 2016 championships, which is expected to provide a significant boost to UK businesses, with a new footie themed menu.

To kick off the start of the Euros, owner Sam Gadd has partnered up with Social Key marketing to run its special Euro 2016 burger menu alongside its existing menu, offering six burgers to represent six major nations in the championships.

From an English Sunday Dinner burger, complete with a Yorkshire pudding bun, to a German Bratwurst and saurkrout concoction, the menu offers the best flavours from each nation.

Gadd said: “With my background as a chef, I enjoy experimenting with flavours and so this was the perfect excuse to have a bit of fun with the ingredients and carefully construct a selection that really packs a punch.”

This year’s Euros are already expected to boost sales for retailers and hospitality businesses nationwide, after research by Lloyds Bank revealed that England’s previous involvement in tournaments has led to a sharp rise in spending.

In the years of the championships since 1996, England has seen average consumer spending growth step up from 0.26% to 0.41% between the second and third quarter.

Nitesh Patel, economist at Lloyds Bank, said: "Successful Euros campaigns have tended to have a positive short-term impact on the mood of consumers in those nations.”

Gadd added: “I’m a big football fan myself and at Tango, we have a really loyal community of diners who love coming back time and time again, so there is already a lot of excitement around the new options we’ll be serving up.

“Whether they are following the tournament or not, I hope the menu will get our customers in the sporting spirit and encourage them to try something different.”
