The latest addition to the growing shoe retailer’s chain brings with it 20 sales assistant jobs and boosts the number of people working for the company to more than 550. Colin Clinkard, a former joint managing director and current director, cut the ribbon and decalred the remodelled flagship store open for business. Colin, whose parents opened the first Charles Clinkard in 1924, said: “It’s an honour to officially open the new Teesside Park store so close to where the company first started out. “We’ve created lots of new jobs and are pleased to be able to continue to support the local economy, and we are thrilled to receive the loyalty and continued support of the people of the area. “Our employees are a vital part of our long-term success and offer excellent customer service, going above and beyond for our customers.” As well as the £300,000 investment in the Teesside Park shop the firm also opened a new £3 million head office and warehouse at Cannon Park in Middlesbrough earlier this year. Since opening over 90 years ago, the store now owns 34 stores nationwide. The new 4,500 sq ft location marks the company’s first ever retail park location and its seventh store in the North East, joining Newcastle, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Northallerton and Dalton Park.
