25 new jobs at Durham bar

25 new jobs at Durham bar

A brand new bar is moving to Durham city centre and bringing with it over 25 jobs.

As part of the refurbishment of the Loveshack Nightclub in Walkergate Leisure Complex, which opened in 2007, the club will be divided into two venues- the first of which during the day serving food and coffees.

The venue, called My House, will also play host to its own events and live acts, and will have a separate DJ and music policy to the Loveshack Nightclub, which already employs 60 members of staff.

The remainder of the venue will still be operating as Loveshack until the second phase of the refurbishment starts, which is planned for 2017, in which Loveshack will be given a makeover and rebrand.

Debbie Corbett, General Manager, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of My House, bringing something fresh and unique to Durham as well as a range of job opportunities for the city.

“Loveshack is now into its tenth year of trade and has certainly done us proud over the years – we have hosted some unforgettable nights and events! But all good things must come to an end and we realise that it’s now time to update the décor and move with the times.

2Using the space at the front during the day is an amazing idea and the plans for the new build are very exciting. We can’t wait until it’s completed and I’m sure our customers will all love the finished article!”
