Thirteen Group, one of the North East’s leading social housing groups, has purchased a 27,300 sq ft redevelopment opportunity in Stockton.
The North East agency team at Sanderson Weatherall has sold the former Alma Street Health Centre, located off Alison Street, on behalf of NHS Property Services, for an undisclosed price.
Ian Wardle, chief executive at Thirteen Group, said: “We are pleased to have acquired this fantastic site, in the heart of Stockton Town Centre.
“The delivery of these high-quality, affordable rented homes will not only complement the recent investment in the regenerated Town Centre but will also bring this important site back into use by providing family housing, apartments and bungalows, that will meet the needs of the local community.
“We are in the process of working up a detailed scheme and hope to have a planning application submitted by the end of the year with the aim of starting on site in 2018.”
George Williams, an agent at Sanderson Weatherall's Teesside office, added: “We are delighted to have secured the sale of this property for the NHS.
"The property is a great acquisition for Thirteen Group, with a good location close to Stockton town centre and already established residential accommodation in the surrounding area.
"I look forward to seeing how Thirteen Group transforms the site."
