North East-based property and business consultancy business, George F White, has opened a new office in the centre of Newcastle to bolster its commercial growth in Tyne and Wear.
The 1,900 sq ft office, which is based on Westgate Road in the city centre, will focus on planning and development, commercial property and energy consultancy.
It will allow specialist areas of the firm to continue to grow and diversify, and will be a North East hub for the planning and development team, which has experienced strong growth in recent years, and now constitutes 25% of the business’ turnover.
Richard Garland, partner at George F. White, has been head of planning and development at the consultancy for 11 years now, originally joining as a trainee. He said: “Moving to a city centre location has been a deliberate move for George F. White to put us at the heart of commercial business in the Tyne and Wear region.
“The new office focuses on our planning and development, commercial property, energy and residential lettings services, which have grown rapidly in recent years. It builds on our heritage of nearly 40 years and team of nearly 120 staff, enabling us to reach out to a wider client base within the city and region.
“2018 looks set to be a busy but exciting year and recruitment, particularly into our commercial property team, is a priority as we continue to grow our presence in Tyne and Wear, like we have elsewhere across the North East region and nationally.”
George F. White employs a number of specialist town planners, planning and development surveyors and architects in its seven offices from Scotland to East Yorkshire. The team dedicated to planning and development totals 13, with plans to recruit a further 3 over the next 12 months and double in size by 2020.
The team is responsible for a range of development projects across the UK, providing services in sectors including residential, commercial, education and care as well as and minerals planning.
Richard Garland said: “We are looking to expand our team by over 10% in the next year. Our particular focus in Newcastle will be on Commercial Surveyors to expand our offering in that sector.”
