ScS CEO David Knight
The Sunderland-headquartered furniture chain continues to buck the national trend after reporting strong sales and revenue growth during the last quarter.
ScS, one of the UK's largest retailers of upholstered furniture and floorings, reported a 1.5% rise in like-for-like sales during the 26 weeks to 27 January.
The retailer also reported like-for-like order intake growth of 2.2% and two-year like-for-like order intake growth of 5.3%.
This strong growth defies what has ben a gloomy period for the retailer sector and David Knight, ScS CEO, believes the company is well positioned for the future.
He said: “We expect that the retail market will continue to remain challenging in the short to medium term, and we are conscious that the group still faces the key Easter and May bank holiday trading periods.
“Despite the challenging trading conditions, the group continues to deliver profitable growth and the board is pleased with the group's year to date trading, which is in line with its expectations."
Founded in Sunderland in 1894, ScS now employs nearly 2,000 people with stores located throughout the UK as well as operating nine distribution centres.
