Real Ale festival showcases North East breweries

St James’ Park is hosting a two-day real ale festival, to celebrate the best of the North East’s craft beers.

The event will showcase real ales from around the region, as well as a selection of food and live music.

Featured breweries for the event are Wylam, Hadrian Border, Sharps, Cullercoats, Box Social, Three Kings, Out There, Tyne Bank, Blackhill and Firebrick.

Julia Austin from Tyne Bank brewery told BQ: "It's fantastic to be involved in the inaugural Newcastle United beer festival. The fact that the club are using their profile to support so many local brewers is great news!

"I'm sure that the fans of both football and beer will get behind this initiative and take the opportunity to sample some fabulous local beers. It comes at an exciting time for us as we have just expanded our operation and moved to our new brewhouse in Newcastle.'

The festival will run from 6 - 11pm on 7 October, and noon until 10pm on 8 october.

Entry to each session is £10, weekend tickets will be £15.
