Louise Codman, a keen amateur football coach, is opening a franchise of Little Kickers, a pre-school football academy in Wirral after securing the funding.
Set up in 2002, Little Kickers operates 210 franchises with 1,500 coaches in 16 countries coaching children up to the age of seven.
Codman is launching the business after securing a £9,800 loan from MSIF to assist with start-up costs including the franchise fee and initial equipment.
She said: “I love football. I coach a women’s team twice a week and my two young daughters are at Little Kickers in south Liverpool.
“When I heard there was an opportunity to run the franchise in the Wirral area I jumped at the chance, this is a dream come true for me.
“I have already received lots of interest and many of the classes are nearly full."
Codman is already looking at ways to expand the business. She added: “There are lots of opportunities to grow the business and I am looking at the possibility of running sessions in pre-schools and nurseries. I am also looking at taking on another franchise area locally."
“The loan from MSIF has been absolutely crucial to enable me to start my business and I am really grateful for the support they have provided.
“As well as helping me, the loan has meant that I have been able to employ four other people one of whom is another mum who hasn’t worked for seven years.”
Initial sites include Hoylake, Greasby and Wallasey and there are plans to open in additional venues in the area.
