New premises fuels growth

A logistics and storage firm is planning to invest in staff and drive sales after moving to new premises in Rochdale.

Barnes Logistics has moved from its leased site in Oldham after purchasing a new 50,000 sq ft site in Rochdale.

The move follows a seven-figure funding package from Yorkshire Bank arranged by Helen Miller, a relationship manager in Manchester.

Barnes provides logistical and warehousing services for a range of industries including textile, automotive and food manufacturing.

Operating with a fleet of more than 50 vehicles from depots around the UK, the supplier delivers ‘Just in Time’ solutions for manufacturing businesses.

Chris Barnes, owner and managing director, said: “The Rochdale site is a far superior building in a much better location, allowing us to streamline our operations.

“Purchasing the premises has given us greater flexibility and the funding provided by Yorkshire Bank means we have been able to continue focusing on growth during the move.

“I’ve been a customer of Yorkshire Bank since 2009 and the team has always been great to work with.

“Over the next year we plan to keep increasing sales by continuing to provide an extremely high standard of service and investing further in our workforce.”

The business, which was established in 2004 by Chris Barnes, employs 80 staff.
