A new study carried out by totallymoney.com has found that Burnley is the best place in the UK to make a living.
Research by the credit comparison site analysed employment rates, average wage and cost of living to find the best places to live in the UK from a financial perspective.
One of the key factors behind Burnley’s success was its low cost of living, for which it finished in first place in the index.
The town also has the lowest average mortgage repayments in the study, whilst enjoying 4% year-on-year job growth.
Speaking about the research, TotallyMoney.com head of brand and communications Joe Gardiner said: “While scenery, shopping and a nice local pub are all important, people will always want to live in areas where they can be financially secure.
“This research shows us the true financial-health of an area, and that a town which offers high-paying jobs and expensive restaurants won’t necessarily be the best place to make a living.”
