The sales comes at an exciting time for the club, which moved into a new purpose-built wholly owned stadium in August 2010 and is virtually debt free.
The deal is subject to approval from the English Football League (EFL) which is expected to be granted in the coming week.
A statement from the club’s website reads: “Morecambe Football Club have today announced that Brazilian businessman Diego Lemos has acquired a majority shareholding in Morecambe Football Club Ltd, subject to EFL consent.”
Speaking back in March, former chairman and majority shareholder, Peter McGuigan, added: “Having been chairman for 16 years, I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the club forward and build on a strong platform that exists today.”
Morecombe are currently top of League 2 after picking up 12 points from their first five games.
We await further comment from the club.
