Mayoral candidates to speak at Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Metropolitan University has teamed up with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for an event that brings together academics, businesses and policy makers to futureproof the Northern Powerhouse.

Andy Burnham and Sean Anstee, both mayoral candidates, will be giving a keynote address, with the deputy vice-chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan, Professor Jean-Noel Ezingeard, also speaking.

The event, for smaller firms in Greater Manchester, will highlight the opportunities available that are essential to the success of the Northern Powerhouse, and how the city’s core strengths can link to ensure growth.

For example - schools, further education and higher education can assist with narrowing the skills shortage in key areas.

In addition, education can enhance the capability of financial and professional services to meet the potential needs of SME businesses as they experience growth.

Logistics can enable the infrastructure to support these key skill areas.

This event promises to be an excellent networking opportunity, and a rare chance to hear from Andy Burnham and Sean Anstee on the subject of SMEs and the future of the Northern Powerhouse.

The event takes place on Thursday, October 13, 15:45 – 18:00. For more information and to book tickets click here.
