Manchester’s Rainbow Cosmetics receives The Queen’s Award for International Trade

The family firm has bagged the award in 2017 for their continued and significant international growth.

The Rainbow Brand Division has been developing influential beauty brands since 2002 and now owns multi-award winning tanning and cosmetics brand Sunkissed; luxury bath and body gifting brand Style & Grace; Tilly, a quirky children’s cosmetics collection; and new for 2017, is Q-KI cosmetic kits which captures all the latest trends direct from the blogosphere, which will launch later this year.

The Rainbow brands division which is driven by insight and innovation, has shown significant international growth in the last three years. Managing director Stephen Sharman explains: "With exports being an increasingly important part of the business our aim is to increase this to achieve 50% of branded sales through export business.”

A combination of strategic planning and investment has seen the Rainbow Brand Division grow by 52% in the last 5 years. While the overall turnover has been consistently meeting targets, the company has still been pleasantly surprised about the increase in export sales, which have grown by 141% from 2013 to 2015, reaching a total of 39 countries.

Stephen continues: “We are thrilled to have been recognised for the Queen’s Award. As an established family business operating in a competitive sector, it really underpins the commitment and success of our staff to continue to deliver innovation and customer service both in the UK and overseas.”

Stephen’s parents John and Heather Sharman will attend Buckingham Palace to receive the Queen’s Award on behalf of the company later this year.
