Energi Mine, which uses artificial intelligence to track energy markets, is entering Innovation Showcase at Venturefest Manchester. Omar Rahim from Energi Mine explains more about the business.
Describe your business in no more than 100 words
Energi Mine is a business that uses artificial intelligence to track energy markets. We use these algorithms to buy energy for businesses when prices are lowest.
What prompted you to enter the Innovation Showcase competition? Describe the innovation that you’ve entered the showcase with.
We are trying to increase awareness of the use of artificial intelligence to solve every day problems. We have created software that is modelled on the workings of the human brain. Our technology becomes smarter and smarter the more data it processes.
How would you describe that to a novice?
We create software that is able to process data faster and more accurately than the human brain to help track energy prices and ultimately, save businesses money.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Convincing people we are not developing killer robots.
What are your biggest professional achievements to date?
Probably creating jobs for people in hi-tech sectors that people didn’t know existed in Manchester.
How do you feel about presenting to potentially hundreds of people at Venturefest Manchester?
Looking forward to the challenge!
What would winning the Innovation Showcase mean to your business?
It would help us get the exposure we need to tell people about what AI can do for their businesses.
Where do you see your company in five years time?
Being recognised as the company that changed the way the energy markets work.
What advice would you give to aspiring innovators?
Don’t be afraid to fail – multiple times. Don’t do anything you’re not absolutely passionate about .
