Greater Manchester-based Bardsley Construction has been awarded a £7.5m contract by Gladman Care Homes, which specialises in independent living developments with 24-hour on site care and support.
The 6,225 sq metre development in Southport consists of a four-storey brick building with timber roof, residents’ lounges and dining facilities, landscaping and car parking.
Working alongside Bardsley are John McCall Architects, structural and civil engineers Opus International and quantity surveyors and employer’s agent, Stringer & Pickford.
Construction of the scheme is due to start in December 2017 with completion planned for March 2019.

Other specialist care facilities provided by Bardsley Construction include:
a £7.2m extra care scheme for City West Housing Trust that provided apartments for more than 70 residents with facilities including dining room, café, communal lounges, wellbeing suite, assisted bathing, reception and private gardens, all built to BREEAM ‘very good’ standard. The development was named Extra Care Development of the Year at the Inside Housing Top 60 Developments Awards;
the £10.5m Fernbank Extra Care Facility for The Abbeyfield Society, a state-of-the-art extra care and dementia unit on the site of the former Bingley Hospital, Bradford providing 47 extra care apartments, 30 dementia apartments, together with a day centre;
a £4.7m design and construction project for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to replace residential and retail properties at The Strand, Rochdale with three-storey residential and retail buildings and community facility alongside external works and public realm open space.
