Professional Liverpool, the organisation which promotes professional excellence in the Liverpool City Region, marked a successful year at its Annual General Meeting.
Since its last AGM, Professional Liverpool membership rose by 125 to 405, which exceeded the organisation’s projections. Chief executive, John Hall, told attendees that this upward trend looks set to continue into the new year and beyond.
Liverpool City Region professionals gathered in the council chambers at Liverpool Town Hall to hear the progress made in 2016/17. John Hall, chairman Jim Gill, and company secretary, Andrew Lovelady, led the review.
With member numbers at a record high, the trio discussed how Professional Liverpool is taking steps forward into the future, recognising the importance of digital communication, with a new website and team additions.
The past year has also seen the organisation welcome former Lord Mayor of the City of London, Dr Andrew Parmley, to the city, with the party visiting Sensor City, Liverpool’s unique hub for sensor technology development and growth, as well as other leading facilities.
John Hall, Professional Liverpool chief executive, said: "Our Liverpool City Region focus has become even more streamlined this year, with the creation of the financial and professional services board through the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership. It's crucial that we continue to work collaboratively, so that we can continue to grow and make a difference for more businesses and employees in the region.
"I and everyone at Professional Liverpool would like to thank our members for another successful year, and we look forward to seeing you all at more events in 2018.”
In 2017, Professional Liverpool held 83 events, up 33 from last year. These included the sold-out Cannes Do event in March, which was attended by around 600 professionals.
Following the AGM, the annual members’ lunch took place in the Town Hall’s ballroom, with around 200 in attendance.
