The National Land and Development team at CBRE in Manchester has sold a prime residential development site at Clarendon Road in Hyde to Taylor Wimpey for an undisclosed sum.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for the development of circa 96 residential units at the site.
The 6.8 acre site is the former Clarendon Sixth Form College, which in 2015 relocated to Ashton and is accessible directly off Clarendon Road. The site is situated in an established residential area with terraced housing adjacent to the property and Hyde Police Station located directly next door to the west of the site.
East of the former College is an open area of green land that was previously used as the playing fields, which forms part of the site.
The Hyde site is approximately 7.8 miles to the east of Manchester City Centre and three miles to the south of Ashton-Under-Lyne. Manchester City Centre and Ashton-Under-Lyne can easily be reached by car in under 30 minutes and 15 minutes respectively. The site is well located for access to public transport with both Newton for Hyde and Flowery Field train stations close by.
John Dunlop, director, National Land and Development team in Manchester, commented: "We are delighted to confirm the recent sale of the Hyde site to Taylor Wimpey to redevelop the former Sixth Form College. The prime site is located in close proximity to Hyde Town Centre with local and key transport links to access the wider Manchester area. The new development in Hyde will contribute to meeting the local and national need for new homes and will also bring benefits to the community, including job creation, apprenticeships and increased economic activity in the local area.”
