Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has appointed Manchester based Media Agency Group (MAG) to head up a media campaign to showcase the South-East Asian country to potential visitors from the UK.
MAG was chosen for the brief after a competitive pitch, where it1 used its Magnify and insight division to understand the UK travel market and audiences.
Launching with a heavy weight media campaign across the London Underground, the aim is to showcase Sri Lanka using compelling photography, including shots of Yala National Park (where Sri Lanka has the highest density of leopards in the world) and the amazing whale formations seen in Kalpitiya.
John Kehoe, CEO said of MAG said: “To be awarded the contract with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has been a fantastic start to 2018 for MAG. We’re very excited to see the campaign come to life across the UK and realise the culmination of work from our team and that of the Sri Lankan Tourism Bureau go live.
“It was a pleasure to work with them and it further extends our expertise and knowledge when it comes to the travel and tourism market. I’m sure this campaign will be one of many where Magnify truly shows its power and understanding of each market independently.”
Sri Lanka has become one of the most sought-after travel destinations amongst UK tourists and this media campaign aims to increase tourism over 2018.
The UK continues to be the No.1 in tourist arrivals from Europe to Sri Lanka, total arrivals from the UK reached 166,489 in the ten months leading up to October 2017, this is an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period last year.
