Beauty business London Lash has set its sights on the USA and Asia as it targets international expansion.
The brand was founded in Bolton by Hanna Putjato, who is originally from Belarus.
Hanna arrived in the UK in 2009 speaking very little English and has since gone on to become an expert in her field and a beauty entrepreneur; running a £2m lash extension business and her own salon in London.
Hanna started her career in beauty after taking a course in Beauty Therapy in Bolton Community College as she believed it would help her improve her English language. One of her favourite modules on the course was Eyelash Extensions – then a relatively new treatment in the UK, although popular in Eastern Europe.
Following her qualification, Hanna started working as an eyelash extensions technician in a small beauty salon in Bolton. After significantly enhancing her skills in this area, Hanna took a leap moving to London and starting her entrepreneurial journey in the beauty business.
Shortly after opening her own salon in London, she was continually being asked if she would train new lash artists who found her work on social media.
Hanna then set about sourcing and testing products that were not just commercial, but also developed with a focus on safety and comfort, and London Lash Pro was born.
“It was a big step to move from Bolton to London, but I knew if I didn’t do it – then I never would know if it would be a success or not”, says Hanna.
After a few months working in London and learning the ropes, she had four lash technicians working for her, and began to concentrate solely on business development with a focus on training and retail (selling to other salons).
Just in four years, the London Lash brand is becoming bigger and stronger, welcoming distributors and trainers in 10 countries globally and reaching turnover of £2m. In the coming months, Hanna and her London team plan to expand this further throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA.
