Senior appointment at Douglas Scott signals growth ambitions
Manchester-based legal recruitment firm, Douglas Scott, has appointed Gina Swaim-Rutter as Commercial Director as it drives forward ambitious growth plans.
With more than ten years’ senior leadership experience and a number of industry awards, Gina joins the business to support the management team as it seeks to enhance and grow its offering. She joins Douglas Scott from a private equity backed, award winning, and high growth law firm where she held the positions of Executive Director and Operations Leader.
Senior hire and double sci-tech client win for Influential
Integrated communications agency Influential has continued its growth in Manchester with two client wins and the appointment of Tom Carlin, a seasoned property and construction specialist, to its B2B PR team.
The agency, ranked fourth in this year’s North West Insider rankings table, has been appointed to deliver a global campaign for medtech firm Elucigene Diagnostics – the European market leader in cystic fibrosis genetic testing.
New head of family law at Bromleys
Bromleys Solicitors has appointed Keith Bull as head of its family law department.
Keith is an experienced family law specialist who has held senior roles at firms in the Home Counties, the south west and the north west.
He specialises in cases involving divorce, children, domestic abuse, cohabitation disputes and complex financial and property matters.
William Turner Grows Club and Corporate Wear Team with New Appointment
William Turner, the leading UK manufacturer and supplier of premium quality ties and accessories, is delighted to announce the key appointment of Mike Humble as Head of Sales.
Humble brings with him over 20 years’ teamwear experience working for a raft of leading sports brands including Samurai, Kukri, Puma, Umbro and JJB. He joins from the Behrens Group where he established stock and bespoke teamwear solutions for trade customers and sportswear brands.
New appointments strengthen The Landing’s support for rapid tech start-up model
Four new appointments have been made at The Landing, at MediaCity UK, as part of a new ten-year plan designed to ramp up support and drive rapid growth for tech start-ups.
The management team is being strengthened by the appointment of a new financial controller, Kelly Byrne, who joins the team this week. Previously from We Are Nova in Liverpool, Kelly has a strong background in small businesses and the digital sector.
Former community manager at The Landing, Shu-Ling Li, has been promoted and will lead the new team as head of business services.
James Summerton, previously of Computer Futures, will take on the fast-paced role of business development manager.
inally, a marketing apprentice, Holly Lindon, has been appointed to support businesses based at The Landing. Holly’s role will seek to increase exposure for the start-ups based at The Landing by creating a greater volume of social and video content to help drive their growth as well as the continued growth of The Landing.
Lender continues strong year with regional director hire
Secure Trust Bank Commercial Finance has bolstered its regional presence with the appointment of John Copping as regional sales director for the North West.
John joins from RBS, where he worked for 33 years. His most recent role was regional head for Williams & Glyn’s structured finance team in the North, in which he specialised in unsecured cashflow lending. Prior to this, John worked in the restructuring arm of the business and was a director, managing teams of SME relationship managers.
Davis Blank Furniss grows Family team
Law firm Davis Blank Furniss has appointed Brigid O’Malley as a solicitor in its Family team. Brigid will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Manchester but will also handle cases out of its Glossop office.
Her new role will see her acting on behalf of clients seeking advice and assistance in relation to family matters including divorce, civil partnership dissolution, nullity, domestic abuse, financial proceedings and children proceedings. She will be working closely with Caroline Bilous – partner and head of the Family team.
BLM Expands the Health & Safety practice with senior appointment
BLM, the UK’s commercial law and insurance risk specialist has expanded its health & safety practice with the appointment of partner Peter James.
Peter will lead the safety, health and environment (SHE) team in London working closely with Helen Devery, head of BLM’s health & safety national practice. He joins from Harrison Clark Rickerbys.
North West industry legend joins Manchester-based Skinny Brands
Drinks industry legend Adrian Hirst has announced he is joining Manchester-based Skinny Brands. In his new role as sales director, he will be working with the board, driving on- and off-trade sales across the UK and EU markets. He will also work with the wider team to support strategic brand development.

Mayfly Internet Marketing are celebrating 10 years in business this year and have taken another step forward by hiring two more employees.
Elena Hubert and Thomas Abbate have both recently completed their Masters in Digital Marketing at John Moores University, and have their roots on the European continent. Thomas hails from Belgium and spent a brief time as a freelance marketer before specialising in the field of SEO. Elena, from Germany, has joined the team with a focus on the expanding Social Media services that the company is now offering.

Chris Marsh, an experienced Chartered Surveyor, has joined Legat Owen and brings over five years’ knowledge to the Building Surveying division, including expertise in development monitoring and party wall matters. Chris has moved back from Birmingham where he worked for Bruton Knowles and Fusion Building Consultancy, with public and private clients across niche and large infrastructure projects.
McAlister Family Law takes specialists from two major firms to set up unique legal offering
A niche family legal business, with a leading reputation for its handling of high value divorce and financial work, has in an innovative move taken a five-strong Children Law team from Slater and Gordon and a 10-person Child Care legal team from Stephensons.
The move trebles the size of the McAlister business and creates a unique offering designed to be disruptive to those of traditional family practices in the North West and beyond.
Liquidity Club expands into the North West
Liquidity Club has expanded its team in the North of England with the appointment of Chris Carter as the regional director for the North West region.

Leading video technology company Viddyoze has appointed a new VP of worldwide sales.
Counting over 35 years’ sales experience, Derek Hallam will be responsible for implementing a new sales strategy and driving and growing sales in line with company objectives.
Prior to joining Viddyoze, Derek was enterprise business development director at GTT Communications, the leading global cloud networking provider to multinational clients. He has also held senior sales positions at IBM.

Charlotte joins Ward Hadaway after developing her legal career in Bolton. She has the wide range of experience expected from practising family law in a busy environment and is now taking those skills into the Manchester legal environment.

Mace boosts Northern team with heavyweight appointment
British consultancy and construction company Mace has appointed former Jaguar Land Rover senior executive Colin Harvey to lead its property consultancy business in the North of England and Scotland.
Colin will hold responsibility at Mace for strategic and operational management of a property team of nearly 100, based across Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Hull and Edinburgh. He most recently worked as Jaguar Land Rover’s Head of Property Programmes Delivery, where he led a team responsible for designing, procuring and delivering a portfolio in excess of £1bn worth of property and infrastructure assets across the world.
The Appointment Group announces senior team expansion with the appointment of Chairman, CTO and CPO
The Appointment Group (TAG) announces the appointment of Terry Williamson as non-executive Chairman of the Board.
Terry brings over 30 years of experience within travel and private equity sectors and has led 3 successful exits, most recently as CEO of JacTravel and before that of School Travel Group. He started his career in finance and has held senior roles in travel, such as Managing Director of UK Tour Operations for Thomas Cook Group. Terry will Chair TAG’s board, whilst working alongside Steve Barrass, CEO; Nick Stone, CFO; and John Gianquitto, Founder and President.
The Know Group makes senior hires
Liverpool-based hospitality company The Know Group has made a raft of new senior appointments following a period of rapid expansion. Chris Evans has been appointed Revenue Manager and Marian Cotter business development manager, strengthening the group’s senior management team – in addition to Catherine Peers, the new head of brand and marketing.

Megan Hanney joins the office agency team, Dan Margolis joins commercial valuation, James Berry joins the industrial agency team, Jennifer Craig joins building consultancy and Francis Hill joins the planning and development team. Will Atherton has also been recruited as a new apprentice within the residential valuation team.
