R3 women’s group appoints new chair
The R3 North West Women’s Group, which represents female insolvency and restructuring professionals in the region, has appointed Jean Boldero as its new chair.
Jean, who is legal director with Addleshaw Goddard’s restructuring team in Manchester, takes over from Fran Henshaw of Beever and Struthers who is stepping down after three years in the post.
The women’s group organises regular networking and social events and is particularly known for its annual ladies’ lunch in June, which is open to both men and women and is a sell-out each year. Since the first lunch was held in 2008, the events have raised over £30,000 for local charities.
BLM welcomes new partners to commercial advisory and private wealth teams
Commercial law and insurance risk specialist BLM has continued to grow its commercial advisory and private wealth team at pace with three senior appointments.
James Beresford joins the commercial advisory and private wealth team as a partner, whilst partner Jonathan Askin, an expert in non-contentious commercial law, joins alongside partner Daniel Jones, a specialist in family law for high net worth private clients.
Clough & Willis grows Private Client team with new appointment
Bury and Bolton law firm Clough & Willis has grown its Private Client team with the appointment of Sarah Greene who joins as an assistant solicitor.
Sarah, who lives in Prestwich, will be based out of the firm’s Bury headquarters and its Bolton office in Little Lever. Her appointment follows an increase in the demand for Private Client services and the continued growth of the Bolton office since it opened in 2016.
Brabners hires new head of employment in Preston
Independent legal practice Brabners has appointed Christine Hart as head of employment at its Preston office.
Christine is a Legal 500-recommended lawyer with 10 years’ experience in employment law, having trained under Employment Judge Paul Holmes. She joins Brabners from KBL Solicitors in Bolton, where she was also head of employment.
Hotel group appoints ‘3G’ family member as new director
A North West hotel group has appointed a new director to its board to help develop its business across its five venues in Cumbria and North Lancashire.
English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues has appointed Ben Berry as the group’s new sales and purchasing director, representing the third generation of the Berry family to serve on the company’s board.
Scanlans recruits senior surveyor in Manchester
Property management and surveying firm Scanlans has bolstered its Manchester team with the appointment of Andrew Ashworth as a senior surveyor.
Andrew has joined Scanlans from Nolan Redshaw, where he began his career as a graduate surveyor in 2008.
He qualified as a registered valuer with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2013.

Anamika Pandey joins as a tax solicitor from Addleshaw Goddard. She has three years of experience in tax advisory work, and her arrival marks the first appointment to the firm’s national Tax practice since the arrival of partner Sarah Cardew in September 2017.
Peer-to-peer lender makes North West appointment
Assetz Capital has appointed Jake Hiskett as Senior Relationship Manager in the North West, as it looks to bolster its team in the region.
Jake joins the company from RBS, where he spent five years as a Commercial Manager across the North West. In his role, Jake was responsible for handling requests from new clients, as well as looking after a portfolio of businesses including shops, hotels and farms.
BDP appoint Manchester Studio’s Sue Emms to Principal
Architect Sue Emms has been appointed as Principal at Manchester-headquartered BDP, one of the world’s largest inter-disciplinary design practices.

Leading medical negligence and serious injury law firm Fletchers Solicitors, has boosted its workforce with 50 new hires over the past 12 months.
The firm, which has offices in Manchester and Southport, has reported a 13 percent increase in staff numbers, taking its workforce from 386 in May 2017 to 436 in June 2018.
The list of appointments has included the high-profile acquisition of Trevor Ward, a senior solicitor with over 30 years’ experience within the legal sector and specialising in all areas of medical negligence, from birth trauma to general surgery claims. And Sion Wynne, a ranked lawyer in ‘Chambers & Partners’ who has been appointed as a team leader and will work as part of the medical negligence team.
In addition, Peter Rigby has recently been promoted to the firm’s new head of medical negligence serious injury.
New managing director appointed at Hydratron following acquisition
A leading supplier of high pressure and flow control equipment to the global oil and gas industry, Hydratron, has announced the appointment of a new managing director. Former sales and commercial director Findlay Beveridge has been promoted to the top job following the Altrincham-based firm’s acquisition by Dundee headquartered Pryme Group in June.

In addition to the new equity Partner admissions, Alex Williams and Richard Barnes have been promoted to Associate Partner.
