Rebrand pays off for Gumtree

Gumtree has seen a record number of people use its platform over the past six months after investing in a major rebrand.

Gumtree has reached several new traffic growth milestones, including a record high in the number of users accessing the platform through mobile over the past six months.

For the first time Gumtree is delivering over 15 million unique visitors each week to the platform through mobile (via both mobile browsers and the apps) – up 18% from the same period last year – giving a total weekly reach of 23 million when combined with non-mobile traffic.

The platform also hosts 2.7 million live adverts at any one time. The figures mean buyers have more opportunities than ever to furnish or declutter their home, or find their next job, car, or even community group.

This growth follows a major rebrand earlier this year which saw Gumtree launch a multi-million pound integrated marketing campaign ‘Opportunity starts on Gumtree’.

Morten Heuing, Gumtree’s general manager, said: “We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past six months to get where we are today, so it’s great to see this growth reflected in the figures.

“Mobile in particular is of huge importance to us, which is why we are investing heavily in the product and user experience, as well as promoting the platform to our increasingly tech-savvy audience.

“Gumtree is in the business of helping people – whether that be to find a job or a place to live, or simply to buy something to spoil themselves – and I’m delighted that Gumtree is moving towards its aim of being indispensable for consumers, by connecting people to the things they need.”
