Work has begun at Lea Marston Hotel to cater to increased customer demand due to the hotel’s coveted countryside location, and easy access to Birmingham city centre.
Working with Staffordshire-based Ilze Reinke Interiors, the hotel will open new contemporary bedrooms in the expansion. Once complete, the expansion will see the hotel increase its square footage by 20 per cent and its capacity by 25 per cent, with 117 bedrooms available to guests.
A £1.8m funding package from Lloyds Bank will support the expansion. The hotel, based on Haunch Lane, opened in 1991 and has an annual turnover of £5million. In the past 12 months, the hotel has generated profits that have reached pre-recession levels, and has just employed eight new staff, bringing the workforce up to 150.
Mark Blake, chairman of Lea Marston Hotel, said: “Starting the expansion of the hotel has been a milestone achievement for us and supports our vision of long-term growth.
“We’ve enjoyed a continued relationship with Lloyds Bank for many years and with the most recent funding package, we’re able to meet growing customer demand for our quality services, improve guest experience and eventually welcome more people to the hotel.”
David Chance, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “The refurbishment gives the opportunity for Lea Marston Hotel to expand on its established brand and reputation, as well as create new jobs, giving the local economy a boost.”
