Amazon is set to create 1,000 new jobs at its new centre in Manchester, the company has revealed.

The new centre will open in the autumn, with permanent jobs being created over a three year period.

The roles will include engineers, computing staff and human resources and operations managers.

The announcement is part of the internet giant's plans to create 2,500 new jobs this year across the UK, bringing its total workforce to 14,500.

Amazon is already planning to open a new centre in Coalville, Leicestershire, bringing the number of UK sites to 12.
