Augmentic has the vision to grow

With a growing client list, market leading technology and seven-figure contracts on the horizon, Tayside’s Augmentic Visualisations is eyeing further growth in 2016.

Launched in 2014 by entrepreneur Ritchie Duncan, Augmented Visualisations is a software development company specialising in augmented and virtual reality solutions for marketing and training purposes.

The company uses gaming technology to create its products which gives them the ability to make their marketing and training programmes interactive and fun.

Having already landed a number of lucrative contracts, the company is now looking to grow overseas and has ambitious growth plans to patent its products and increase its headcount.

“I spent 20 years in the RAF as an aircraft engineer and then went to Abertay University to study and begin a career in computer games technology,” said Ritchie.

"A group of us were working on a project as part of our course when I created a business model, and after graduating I suggested to several of my classmates and friends that we could use this plan to set up a viable company.

“At the beginning we thought we would be focusing on the games industry but it quickly became apparent that our real value was in creating effective solutions for companies in industries including oil and gas, engineering, food and drink, motoring and aviation.”

Upon launching the business, Ritchie sought professional business advice to support him with his new venture, when he met Business Gateway.

He added: “Starting a business throws up quite a few challenges but fortunately we have had great support from Business Gateway who helped us find our way through the start-up maze and get our business plan sorted.

“Our adviser Michelle has been a great support and is always on hand to listen and offer advice. It is very useful having someone on hand who can offer an external view on the business.”

With success working with clients including Grassicks BMW and Angus Council, Ritchie and his four strong team have now implemented a growth strategy which will take Augmentic Visualisations onto the next level.

“My aim is for us to be the go-to company for Next Gen Technology within the oil and gas and engineering industry,” continued Ritchie.

“We are currently a team of two artists, two coders and me, but we aim to expand the team to 10 within the foreseeable future.

“Our two key priorities moving forward are to employ an experienced sales team to increase our client list for our marketing tool and create our own IP that we can then license.

“Our Business Gateway adviser’s advice and support on implementing a growth plan has been invaluable as we secure bigger contracts and we are now tendering for seven figure projects throughout the world.”
