Entrepreneur Ellie Wharton, who is also a writer, yoga teacher and tea devotee, launched Positivitea in October 2014 in a bid to create tea that is good for the soul.
The company got off to a strong start and within a year was being stocked in stores across the UK and even began shipping its tea to China.
As the company continued to grow, Wharton decided to look to crowdfunding in a bid to accelerate the company’s future growth plans.
After launching a crowdfunding campaign last month via Crowdcube, a total of 159 investors have now invested in the company, helping Wharton raise over £80,000.
Positivitea is now looking to grow its headcount with the recruitment of an experienced UK based sales manager and is looking to invest in a major marketing campaign.
Speaking on the success, Wharton said: “When we found out we'd reached our target we were delighted to discover that the person who helped us get over the final hurdle was a yoga teacher, an apt way to end the round we felt and affirmation that our core market is very much behind us.
“But it's not over yet! We've been astounded by the positive energy since we started the campaign so a huge thanks to everyone who has supported us so far, the good news is we're keeping the round open to overfund so if you know of anyone who is keen to expand their portfolio with a young and exciting FMCG company please continue to share the link and share the love.
