Business South helps Surrey firms 'influence positive change'

Surrey business leaders were able to find out more about how Business South can help them prosper, at an event held by Surrey County Council.

Leaders from some of the top companies operating in Surrey and the county’s universities gathered at the Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge.

It was an opportunity for business leaders to find out more about Business South, an independent influencing organisation, connecting leading employers to promote the place & Champion the economy in our region and to discover how it is working with Surrey County Council.

Director of Business Growth at Surrey County Council, Mark Pearson, said with growth running at 8.3% the county was outstripping anywhere else in the country - but the county council was not complacent.

As well as tackling infrastructure and congestion issues, the county council had identified the need for better engagement with businesses.

“We have entered into a formal partnership with Business South to create a Champion programme to enable us to better engage with larger businesses,” he said.

Sally Thompson, CEO of Business South, explained the organisation had been in existence for 10 years and had a proven track record of connecting businesses to drive economic prosperity.

Business South is working with 250 businesses and organisations who together employ 100,000 and generate a value of £4bn

“It is about telling a compelling story and showing how we can influence positive change,” she explained.

“By joining the dots together we can do more together and achieve more together.”
